Interoperability Emergency Communication Grant Program (IECGP)
The SIEC encouraged all local, regional and tribal entities related to enhancing interoperability in Washington State to apply for the new 2009 IEC Grant Program due December 10, 2008 that supports leadership, governance, protocols, training, and in some instances, equipment. As we've been traveling statewide to each Homeland Security Region meeting with you regarding interoperability, we promised we would let you know when funding opportunities become available:
Amount: $1,185,623 for Washington State
Performance Period: 24 months
Application Deadline to EMD: 5 p.m. on December 10, 2008.
Overview: The Interoperable Emergency Communications grant program (IECGP) provides funding to improve interoperable emergency communications capabilities and supports the implementation of the Statewide Communication Interoperability Plan (SCIP).
The funds shall support:
- Gaps in Leadership and Governance and Common Operational Planning and Protocols;
- Emergency Responder Skills and Capabilities Development through Training and Exercises.
These two groups are identified by the Federal Department of Homeland Security as critical for advancing interoperable emergency communications. The Washington Military Department, Emergency Management Division, is the State Administrative Agency.
